COMPANY PROFILE

Brookfield District Inc. is proud to be shaping the future of local in St. John's West End.
We understand that in both business and development, the ability to pivot is essential—and at Brookfield, we remain open to change in order to better support our community. That’s why we’re currently undergoing investigative permitting applications to explore the potential for new buildings in our district. These would allow for increased housing options, the development of a brand-new Cove Bouldering Building, and the construction of a brand new fully accessible Urban Market 1919.
Whether through the revitalization of existing spaces or the creation of entirely new ones, we’re committed to moving forward in ways that reflect the evolving needs of our city. Our vision is rooted in flexibility, collaboration, and community—creating spaces where our city's growth is a priority, and residents can thrive together.

OUR TEAM

Brookfield District is a location rich in history. The team at Nidus Development captures that spirit and is the driving force behind each phase of the Brookfield District. Spearheaded by Gregory Hanley, a developer with over 25 years of experience and a flair for repurposing materials, he has a proven ability to bring new life to the West End of St. John's.

By his side, Ivy Hanley brings artistic vision and a strong drive for success. After creating the wildly successful Urban Market 1919 in the District, she pushed that Brookfield is a growing community with the potential to provide success to all who collaborate. Her dream of a one-stop shop for local, with a live-work-play focus, continues in Brookfield. She has since moved into politics and looks forward to seeing Brookfield’s next move.

Isabelle Quinlan serves as Brookfield’s Strategic Growth Advisor. A proud advocate for local, she works daily to advance the goals of Brookfield’s revitalization. Her years of leadership and management success are evident in everything she does.

A Statement from Gregory Hanley

President of Nidus Development Inc & Co-Owner of Brookfield Development

"Growing up in the West End of St. Johns has given me the opportunity to see how quickly communities can grow & change over time. Knowing those who have grown up around us and see them staying and ensuring local growth is a delight. Brookfield district embodies all of that & more. I see it as a place that community can thrive, local industries can grow, and business connections can be made. Repurposing old materials, buildings & locations is a passion of mine, and Brookfield District allows us to create something new again."

A Statement from Ivy Hanley

President of Urban Market 1919 & Co-Owner of Brookfield Development

"Being in business with Greg Hanley has allowed me to see the importance of community growth. There is a trickle effect that happens with local manufacturing that runs down into retail. Urban Market was a dream that became a successful reality via community support. With over 300 local vendors constantly supplying Urban Market, it allows each vendor to grow faster then if they were solely selling on their own.  Urban has proven the location of the Brookfield District is essential to local growth in the west end and I couldn't be prouder to be one of the driving forces behind it. Together we are all stronger.
